Motivated by quite enjoying walking for 8 hours a day, I just went for a run.  I have not run for a very long time.  It was surprisingly easy to start with, and I was covering quite a distance pretty quickly.  I did tire a little before getting to Gas Works, so had a little rest when I got there.  (The statue of liberty's head is already in situ, I was pretty excited by this.)  On the way back, however, I ran into quite a few problems.  I was going along so easily, because it is downhill all the way to Gas Works from Wallingford, and not so much on the way back up.  Prompt lots of lack of sun screen, water and money panic.  Fun times.

Suicidal dogs

I have a bike, which I use most days. I have to cross a park at one point, and there are often lots of dogs. I of course fear dogs, rightfully so as I have recently heard that vicious dog attacks are on the rise, and so when I near one I do so with a certain amount of trepidation. However, something quite strange has been happening over the last few months. Many of the dogs have either been throwing themselves in front of my tires, or have tried to run head first into the side of my wheels. It has been quite odd. One dog yesterday was staring at me as I approached, completely still, and when I was two metres away it suddenly bolted into action, right in my path. I had to throw myself into the grass bit (without embellishment that means I steered into the grass) to avoid it. And then the dog's owner gave me quite a dirty look, as if I had attempted to hit the dog.

Interesting stuff.
